Apes and humans lived in peace for more than half a century, the war only brought internal conflicts between the sides and although peace was the later consequence, they finally lived together and peacefully.

But it was still not well seen that humans and apes had relationships, each one lived in their area, both separated by borders and policies.

Noa son of the leader of the eagle clan. And Mae daughter of an important senator. Ape and human had set their eyes on each other, unable to ignore the other's presence when they saw each other. The tension between the two ends in a nighttime escapade with consequences for the future.

Mae didn't like participating in her father's political campaigns. More than anything because she always ended up in the middle, like a piece of meat.

She was just grateful that her father always defended her and never left her hanging, but the suitors always surrounded her, eager to get close to the senator's daughter from the southern zone.

That first day, she had to accompany her father to a dinner with the Eagle Clan. A friendly clan that always worked alongside humans.

Mae sat quietly in her seat, trying not to draw attention to herself. She didn't have the same tension as with other human politicians who tried to pair her up with one of their sons at every opportunity.

No, there she only observed Noa, the son of the Eagle Clan's leader. He also looked back at her.

They didn't need many words; they never did. Whenever they saw each other, their relationship was one of glances, smiles, and even touches.

Mae didn't know if Noa caught her attention because he was different from the others or because he was the only one his father didn't try to pair her up with.

That was simple. Neither the senator nor the clan leader understood that humans and apes could have a relationship beyond politics. For both humans and apes parents, humans and apes could coexist with boundaries and each in their own place.

None of them realized that their children understood that humans and apes could have a much more... intimate relationship.

That dinner passed quietly. Except for a surprise at the moment of saying goodbye. Noa this time bid her farewell with a hug.

No one seemed to pay attention, and if they did, they didn't say anything. Nor did it interest either of them. Mae was too comfortable in his arms, and Noa was too busy feeling the small, soft, peculiarly scented human in his arms.

When they separated, their eyes met again. Neither of them knew why their bodies reacted so intensely.

They didn't need words.

That night, Mae went out of her hotel room for a walk. She was sure the place was quiet and guarded, since politicians and leaders from all states had gathered there.

She was sure, yes. But she got a little scared when she heard footsteps behind her.

"What are you doing alone at night here?"

It almost cost her to recognize that voice. When she turned her head to see the ape standing beside her, she sighed in relief.

"I was taking a walk."

"You can't go out at night without company. You know there are apes who still have trouble coexisting with you humans."

Mae let out a laugh.

"Well, for that, there are apes like you who feel very comfortable with humans, and even dare to hug them in front of everyone."

The human couldn't appreciate the blush that appeared on the ape's cheeks.

"Not only do I feel comfortable. I like humans."

"What? Is it a fetish of yours? Having them all at your feet? Am I just one more?"

Noa stopped, making her stop too.

"You're the only one."

Now it was her turn to blush. But this time, Noa could see her, because the moonlight reflected off her face and eyes.

Mae coughed a little, turning her head to the right, unable to bear his gaze.

Many times they had looked into each other's eyes, smiled, touched, and hugged, but never had Noa's eyes shone like that.

"Am I the only one?"

Noa's voice brought her back to reality.

"What do you mean, the only one?"

Noa took her hand, leading her to a more secluded spot.

If someone saw them together, they might think the worst. Noa leading her by the hand in the darkness of the night towards an empty corner of the hotel building.

Once Noa found the perfect spot, he leaned her against the wall and pressed his body against hers.

Mae could feel the strong, muscular ape body against hers.

He went back to hugging her, bringing their faces very close together.

"The only one you feel like this."

Noa kissed her ear and neck.

"Noa."

"What do you mean Noa?"

Mae felt stupid. Of course, she felt the same way. But there were too many obstacles between them.

"This is wrong."

"Does it feel wrong?"

Of course, Mae didn't respond.

Noa was attacking her weak points, kissing her neck and, in a moment when Mae wasn't paying attention, had slipped a hand into her underwear to touch her most intimate parts with curiosity and passion.

Now it was Mae's turn to protest for the ape to touch her the way she wanted.

"Shh." Noa whispered. "We might be overheard."

Mae didn't know what was the strangest of all. That Noa seemed so innocent after touching her in a not-so-innocent way, that apes didn't have terms like orgasm or porn, or that Noa had seen porn to know how to please her.

"What?" -the human realized.- "Oh, yes, I also like you. I thought it was obvious." -she imitated the simian's words.-

"I'm going to ask your father for your hand!"

"What?"

Noa seemed very sure. He got up and was determined to seek out the senator.

"No, wait Noa." -Mae stopped him.- "We need to think this through calmly. We don't know how they'll react."

The ape shook his head.

"I don't care. I only want you."

Mae blushed and looked away, remembering something.

"Noa." -she stopped him again.- "But how are you going to go like that?"

The human pointed to the ape's large erection. Because they were used to not wearing clothes, she could see it clearly in the moonlight. Long, erect, almost covered with hair. And Mae wondered how it would feel in her hands or inside her. If it would be soft and hard at the same time.

Noa, who had also looked down, turned away, embarrassed.

"You're right. Maybe it's not the best moment."

The human squinted her eyes, unsure why he was thanking her.

Before she could ask, a light pointed at them, startling them.

"What are you doing there?"

The voice of the ape who had found them startled them. Mae with her shirt up, pants down, and underwear wet due to her orgasm but also because of Noa's, which had ended up falling there. And Noa, who still showed enthusiasm in his gaze.

Even so, the ape placed himself in front of the human, covering her nudity towards the other ape.

Ah yes, the old King Kong himself! I didn’t actually think I was going to add him and Diddy to my AU because I wasn’t sure how they’d fit.. But after brainstorming with a friend, we found a way! XD

I tried to put a lot of thought into DK and Diddy’s designs. Everything was intentional. Diddy and DK’s ENORMOUS size, DKs long fur, the red and blue tones in their fur, DK having long claws while Diddy does not, Diddy’s clothing choice, EVERYTHING! I tried my best to think it all through.

Off the coast of Daisy’s kingdom is this big island that can be seen from the shore. Daisy sent some of her Delfino people to go explore it but they never returned.. so she sent a rescue team after them, but they disappeared too.

Desperate, she turned to Mario and Luigi for help. Now, Mario and Luigi have just proved their strength and heroism by defeating Bowser. And they ALSO have a pet Yoshi. If anyone can go to that seemingly dangerous island and return? Its them.

Daisy approached them with an offer. You go use your magical powers and find out what happened to my missing people, and I’ll give you whatever you want. They agreed and made their way over...

Only to find destroyed campsites, boats torn apart... and bodies. Bodies everywhere. 

Turns out this island is home to these enormous ape like animals. And they attacked the Delfino’s because they were loud, setting fires, chopping down trees, taking their food, etc. When they encountered the King himself, Yoshi was utterly terrified. He knew he was outmatched. There was absolutely no way he could protect the Mario brothers from this thing. So he just slowly pulled Mario and Luigi to the ground and cowered in fear. Trying to make them all look as non confrontational as possible.

Thankfully their petrified faces and absolute silence labeled them as a non-threat. And the situation was defused. Loads of shenanigan's later and they waved goodbye to Donkey, Diddy and all the other monkey creatures and returned to Daisy with the gruesome news..

Their reward? They just wanted enough food to fill Yoshi’s belly. Poor guy probably burnt all the calories he had trying not pass out back there.

On this island, there are these really powerful fruits and veggies that have super star power in them, just like Yoshi’s island. Only these ones work a little differently..

There are two main super foods on this island. The giant red beet type veggies that grow deep in the ground. And the big blue fruits that grow in the trees.

The big red beets are really bitter and tough like rocks. But anyone who eats them will begin to grow in size. The gorilla like animals on this island will use their claws to dig them up and use their iron jaws to crack them open and eat them. That’s why Donkey Kong is red. 75% of his diet consists of these bitter, giant red super beets that make him grow to be giant.

Meanwhile Diddy, and all the other Monkey like animals.. they cant dig for these beets. And their jaws are not strong enough to crack them open. Plus the beets are really bitter.. SO, they prefer to climb into the trees and eat the sweet blue fruits that grow at the very top.

These sweet fruits are also powerful in nature, but instead of making you stronger, they encourage brain growth. So all the monkeys that eat this super sweet brain fruit, will just get really smart and their fur will turn more blue.

The two species almost had a war between them. But they quickly discovered they’re better off together. The gorillas can protect the monkeys from threats, while the Monkeys use their intelligence to make tools and shelter.

This peace is further solidified by Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong's friendship. Diddy being the smartest monkey and DK being the strongest Gorilla.

All in all this island is rather peaceful at its core. But in the end its still full of wild animals. And is considered more dangerous than Yoshi’s island. To this day no one has ever returned to DK’s island. Although DK and Diddy would happily welcome the Mario Brothers back with open arms if they ever decided to visit.

Alternative System Mind Mapping Method for Communication

[DISCLAIMER: This is not a professional or scientifically or anything really backed method, this is something coming solely from peer / personal experience.]

In regards to an anon ask earlier, I was thinking about it and one of the ways we've approached improving communication - particularly internal - in a way that is a lot less prone to flooding or dealing with trauma or anything too overwhelming - is by approaching it following the concept of Memory Webs

I haven't read up on them recently, but "Memory Webs" were a thing that our AP Psychology teacher in highschool made us do because the AP Psych test was term / jargon heavy. Memory in the human brain has been shown to be HEAVILY associative and the ability to remember and connect things tends to rely on following a "web" of connected topics, ideas, concepts etc from one idea to the next.

So in our AP Psych class, she gave us these GIANT books for Vocabulary Webs that we had to slowly work on, each of which required 6 other vocab words / related concepts, a summarized definition, and an image to represent it. By doing this, you added 6 cues to recall the word (increasing the chance you'd remember it), a visual cue, an episodic memory of working on it, and a definition - all in all improving how connected the word is to other concepts in your brain and making it easier to recall it.

I personally like to look at DID and our parts in a similar manner sometimes where the large issue is that a lot of the nodes in the web of associations are either disconnected or connected through a hard-to-find and/or small chain. In that sense, parts struggle to be held together because they are not associated concepts. It's hard to reach other parts because the dissociative walls (which in our unsubstantiated opinion is less a 'wall' and more so a lack of reinforced neural connections, so I would call them dissociative caverns) keep associations from forming

As a result, alternative to more traditional ways of mapping your system and parts, a method I've liked to internally visualize systems and navigating system dynamics is through a memory web manner. (I actually have never done it physically cause the Ray part of my brain - also the most prominent part writing this rn - rarely liked to front if he didn't have to and did a lot of stuff internally)

Here's a bit of a breakdown using six of our parts if any of you want to try it out.

We personally like it because it strips a lot of trauma and stress off of it and makes it a lot more of a positive and present engaging activity. For the purposes of this, I'll be using the free online app of Milanote cause we've used it before for OC associative webs and I think it'll do fine enough. (Honestly it actually might just be a good way to log alter information now that I'm looking at it if you are at a place in recovery where keeping track of that physically helpful)

So we can start by dropping down the parts we want to include in the form of boards

So from here, we have a bunch of disconnected parts. However, we find that a lot of these parts have things that mean a lot to them, that illicit a strong emotion or reaction from them.

Some parts may lack it more than others (often in our case trauma holders and/or trauma locked parts) and that's okay and to be expected. This is a visualization method and if there isn't much connecting a part that is 100% okay.

For demonstration sake, I will now add bubbles around each part of things that were pretty early apparent that each individual liked.

Also for the purposes of how I know our system works and how I plan to do this, I am actually moving Riku to the center and you will all see why Riku is such an S tier center point with this model

So you can see some connections forming.

Some key things you can take from this visual that also applied to earlier stags of how we connected

Lucille and Riku are and have always been pretty darn connected, they go back as one of the longest duos and were split almost as a pair to deal with academics

Chunn and Ray have a very shared interest of "I don't want to do anything leave me alone"

XIV literally was just a piece of shit early on and didn't have any immediate HARD connections with anyone largely because he never was interested in actually engaging in things he liked in a positive way as his "favorite emotion" at the time was "being pissed off"

Lin - an originally trauma stuck / loop - is very very poorly associated with anything that isn't overtly trauma related (and that is saying something cause Vocaloid is trauma related) and thus has very few connections to other parts

So looking at this though, there are a few things that have some similarities between parts. What you can do is make plans to try to foster the interests that you do have and try to generalize it a bit more to also encompass what interests other parts have. So lets engage in hobbies a little more - explore a few concepts that mean a lot to parts independently - and find some more generalized version of those hobbies

(forgot to add easy listening to Ray's and "only wearing monochrome*" to XIV's earlier) (*there are a lot of nuances and caveats)

Damn, look at that. It's messy and ugly to have in a 2D form. I absolutely hate it, this would be so impossible with our whole system. But HEY, it's very connected - and that's the goal.

Compared to the previous one, you can see how easily it can be for one part's interests to start to drift into another. Because they are largely and strongly associated features to each part, they are a lot more accessible when engaging in their shared / associated connections and interests which makes it easier for the them to stay together near the front, stay associated with one another, and work with and communicate with one another.

Of course anyone following this blog goes "Where tf is Birds" and that I left out because it would ruin the point of the web as it actually is one of our traditional "you are around the system a lot? okay pick a bird" which serves to 1) be a fun system culture thing 2) be a means of welcoming a part in and 3) helps establish a foundational connection; we do the same with music but with music its a lot more elaborate and I probably wont explain it for other reasons.

But overtime, by fostering interests that were already present and encouraging parts to broaden and generalize their specific interest a bit, you end up with a lot of overlapping associations that can greatly improve internal communication, co-fronting ability, and just general fluidity and easy of moving around the brain web.

It becomes a good way of trying to figure out what you can do to encourage and help build connections and associations between parts by seeing where things are similar / could have more overlap (combat and martial arts, different types of fashion, different types of music, different appreciation for arts, taking over the world, yada yada yada)

And you wanna know the coolest thing? When you step back from the whole web you can see certain things appear that stand out the most and have some of the most connections.

If you ever intend to go to Final Fusion, those are the things that will likely be the most prominent traits of your whole self

For us? [REDACTED BIRDS for the point of the demonstration], Music, Fashion, Taking over the World, Recovery and Healing, Buddhism, Martial Arts, Arts in general - they're all some of our largest traits that persist in almost all forms as individual parts, partially fused parts, and fully fused parts.

And the BEST part? Doing this didn't require us to touch trauma at all.

Of course in recovery that will come up cause PTSD doesn't ask permission, but its a very low stress way to help improve internal communication and engagement with one another.

Re: manbear discourse (this is a discourse iceberg I've mercifully only seen the top of): am I the only one thinking that part of the subtext of the discussion may be that "man alone in the woods" is itself seen as suspicious behavior?

If the comparison isn't "bear to random man" but "bear to man who shows potential signs of hostility/dangerous failure of values-alignment with mainstream society," then being more scared of the man gets significantly more reasonable:

1) That point about the base rate fallacy (you encounter men many times per day without being attacked, you probably rarely encounter bears) gets shakier.

2) Especially because this is exactly the sort of circumstance in which values-alignment failure is likely to lead to actual aggression. This is a man alone with you. A man dangerously values-unaligned with mainstream morality is likely to still be civil and non-aggressive with you in ordinary day to day interactions, as a matter of his own self-preservation. In an encounter in the wilderness with no witnesses and no-one around who might intervene, you lack this "apes together strong" collective protection. Put it more baldly, if this guy was a serial killer, for him this situation would be the perfect opportunity to kill somebody and get away with it.

3) A hostile/dangerously values-unaligned man is in many ways a potentially more dangerous opponent than a bear despite the bear's greater brute strength; a hostile/dangerously values-unaligned man is much smarter than a bear and may have tools that give him many tactically relevant abilities a bear doesn't have (most obviously, he may have a gun, which is a significantly more dangerous weapon than a bear's teeth and claws). A hostile/dangerously values-unaligned man is also much better equipped to pretend to be safe to be around until he can get you into a position of vulnerability; if you meet a bear you know right away that you're dealing with a powerful, dangerous creature that doesn't have human morality, but an ordinary human is likely to extend substantial trust to another human by default.

The problem with this is, uh, it kind of seems to just move the dumbness from "a random man is more dangerous than a bear" to "a man being alone in the woods is a red flag that he might be out to kill, rape, rob, etc. people"; the latter doesn't strike me as a particularly reasonable proposition either!

Also, if this is about gender, it moves the accusation against men from "a random man is statistically more likely to be dangerous than a bear" to "men are more likely to be dangerously values-unaligned with mainstream society than women so a man being alone in the woods is a yellow/red flag for that but a woman being alone in the woods is not." Is the latter a more plausible/reasonable proposition than the former? Offhand, I can see some possible evidence for "men are more likely to be dangerously values-unaligned with mainstream society than women" e.g. most murderers are men, but 1) that's kind of weak, 2) that then raises the question of how much of the difference is the product of dangerously values-unaligned women being more incentivized to submit to the "apes together strong" pro-sociality coalition because physical sex differences and gender roles result in such women tending to have less physical strength, less access to and familiarity with weapons, and less familiarity with violence than their male equivalents. Note point 2) in relation to this.

Hey y'all. I know this is a really hard time, and I just want to deliver a short speech to the community that I think is perhaps the most in danger thanks to the election. So, if you'll allow this birdie to squawk for a bit, I'd appreciate it.

First off, don't run. If we flee the country, there'll be that much smaller of a resistance. We are stronger together. We can keep each other safe. If you have any friends in the furry, alterhuman, otherkin, therian, etc, communities who you think might be in danger, please. Tell someone. The way we survive this is by gathering our strength. By banding together.

Reach out to everyone you can. I know social anxiety and powerful introversion are pretty common amongst us, but if you can push past it, please do your best. To be a little cringe, APES TOGETHER STRONG. I may be a bird, but the principle stands.

I DID NOT think about how Summer could’ve framed Yang’s way of giving / saving people but now I am and I’m crying haha. Summer really is the backdrop to so much of this but I think it’s really interesting about Who talks about her. Yang to Blake in burning the candle and then later I think in Risks or the episode after the hound when she’s with Ruby. Ozpin was thinking about her when he saw Ruby had silver eyes no doubt. Salem, Qrow who said she was the best of them. We don’t hear Ruby speak much about her but ForNow we know she thinks highly of her as seen in V6 when Summer in her minds ape helped to power her eyes. And then Raven’s “you sound just like your mother” which man oh man do I need her to explain That more.

But I don’t remember Tai talking about Summer at all. We know he mentions Raven a few times, how he compares her to Yang, how he still sounds a bit fond of her despite everything. But unless I’m missing something he hasn’t spoken about Summer in the show. Which is understandable but it’s just so interesting. He says Raven is the one who tore their family and team apart but he can’t even talk about Summer, super mom and the best of them. (Again unless I missed it when he did)

nope, he hasn't. he's gotten close in a sense that whenever a conversation teeters towards territory where summer could be mentioned, he doesn't cross that line and instead does a 180—which is fair, but also... i need to know more lmao

(crossing my fingers that when team rwby return to remnant, it's to patch first. both tai and raven are there and i need them to Talk about many things, summer included. qrow had his chance so i'm putting all my eggs in this basket. tai. raven. don't let me down.)

also, i. find tai's comments about raven being the one who tore their family apart, because we... really don't know what the aftermath looked like when raven left, how any of them reacted to it, etc. we know what yang's reaction was after she learned about raven, but anything else is an assumption made by her; like, yang reasons that tai reacted so strongly to summer's death because she wasn't the first love she lost but like... yo his loved one died, he's grieving, you don't exactly need another lost loved one to have a strong reaction to loss, ya know?

on the other hand, we do know how they all reacted to summer's death; it was tough on all of them, ruby was torn up, tai kind of shut down, yang tried to pick up pieces alone, the team strq photo qrow has has tear-stains and another stain to show that he has kept a glass on top of the photo to hide summer.

with raven leaving it's like... we can assume they were all hurt, i guess?? tai especially, but after that life moved on; summer and tai got together and ruby was born two years after yang was, and things are good for awhile, until summer happened.

like there's this weird disconnect with this family that's almost like no one there is addressing anything properly, ya know? almost like there's a lot of deflection going on in every direction and no one wants to talk about the elephant in the room.

Headcanon: Umbrella Academy

-The Umbrella Academy as Greek Gods (Luther, Diego and Allison)

Part 2, Part 3

Luther as Hephaestus (Ἥφαιστος):

I feel like this one is kind of obvious. Hephaestus is known for his physical strength just like Luther is. Both are rejected and laughed at for the way they look. Hephaestus is rejected and thrown off Olympus by his own mother because of how ugly he is. She resents him yet she’s the one who made him who he is since she had him all by herself. In a similar way, Reginal, who raised Luther alone basically, casts him off by sending him to the moon after he’s been saved by the experimental serum. You can tell his ape-like appearance played a role in him getting sent away.

Still, they both remain very loyal to their so-called family. Hephaestus will go on to make and fabricate multiple things for the gods such as Pandora, Artemis and Apollo’s arrows, Zeus’ aegis and Pelops’s sceptre. In the same way, Luther truly believes in Reginald and it takes him a long time to come around and realize he’s been played.

As much as it feels almost natural to compare Hephaestus and Aphrodite to Luther and Allison, I don’t think it is right to do so. You’ll see why I don’t think Allison is Aphrodite, but I think the most evident difference is that Allison was never forced to be with Luther like Aphrodite was with Hephaestus. Zeus forced her to marry Hephaestus because he believed her beauty would cause jealousy inbetween the gods. But for Luther and Allison, she’s the one asking for the relationship and forcing it into him, not a third individual.

Finally, I’d say that it’s common belief to think the Hephaestus is all muscle and no brain, just like the first impression we get of Luther. He isn’t number one for no reason. But Hephaestus is crafty, he can create godly weapons, things that require extreme precision, but also, in a way, a good understanding of who that weapon is for. When he made Achilles’ armour, it fitted him perfectly, it was made for him and no one else. So Hephaestus possesses a level of skill and understanding of other people. In a similar way, Luther has a certain emotional intelligence that the rest of the Umbrella Academy seems to forget about. He truly believed that being number one meant that he was a leader. He did his best to hold the team together and even if he failed, you can see that he truly did care about his family. So he’s not all muscle either.

Diego as Themis (Θέμις):

Our first Titan! So, Themis is the Titan goddess of divine law and order which I think fits perfectly well with Diego, especially in the first two seasons. Now, let’s just say a few words about Themis first. She is the goddess of divine law, meaning the rules of conduct that have been established by custom. They are the primal laws of morality and justice. These aren’t the common laws, the ones made by humans. They include stuff like piety, hospitality, sacrifices to the gods, etc.

I think that those two parts are important to consider when comparing Diego to her. On one hand, Diego has a strong sense of justice. You can see that he wants to do what’s right a punish the ‘bad guys’. This is literally how he is when we first meet him! And it’s something that stays with him throughout the seasons, stopping JFK from getting killed being the main example. However, he has a complete disregard for actual laws. He gets kicked out of the police academy and becomes a vigilante, clearly, he doesn’t care about the law. So this anti-thesis inside himself, having a strong sense of moral justice while breaking the law, fits really well with Themis.

This is all nice, but Diego also has a soft side. He cares a lot about his siblings, Klaus and Allison in particular, calls Grace ‘mom’, and cares about Lila and Stanley a lot too. How does that fit in with Themis? Well, those primal laws of morality and justice are what keeps the humans alive and the gods happy. It rules, in a way, their relationships. Similarly, Diego, by being kind and open to everyone else’s feelings, is keeping the peace within the family. He gives a way for his siblings to express themselves without the whole family collapsing on itself. Calling Grace ‘mom’ remind them all of what she did for them and allows Grace to get the respect she deserves. Which, to me, sounds a lot like moral justice. And what to say about Stanley. He cared about him, truly. Even after learning he wasn’t his son, because that’s what he believes he should do, guided by his morals.

Finally, this might be a bit of a stretch, but Themis is also known for her divination powers. She’s linked to the Oracle of Delphi as well as the woods of Dodona. Diego’s power, as you know it, is that he can manipulate the trajectory of different objects. In a way, he is at the same time predicting where the object will end up and influencing its fate.

Allison as Demeter (Δημήτηρ):

I feel like this is a less obvious one (like I said, I feel like people associate her with Aphrodite more) but to me, this makes so much more sense. The way I see it, especially considering season 3, Allison cares deeply about her daughter, so much that it becomes the only thing that keeps her alive. This is exactly like Demeter in the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, which tells us about Kore’s abduction (literally rape as in raptus in Latin, meaning seized). So let me walk you through that hymn.

It starts with the abduction of Kore, witnessed by Helios and heard by Hecate. Now, Allison’s story doesn’t exactly start with that, but as soon as season one, we get how important Claire is to her; she’s her Kore. She’s her whole world. The hymn goes on and we learn about Demeter’s grief. She looks for her daughter for nine days before learning the truth about her abduction. She then exiles herself from Olympus and wanders on Earth, not eating, not talking. She will meet the daughters of King Celeos, who will take her to their mother, the queen. offering her to take care of their infant brother. Her fast will be broken by one of the maids, Iambe, who manages to get Demeter to laugh and drink. Similarly, Allison winds up forced to wander in the 1960s. She will get a job at the Odessa’s salon not unlike Demeter accepting the offer from Celeos’ daughters. But it isn’t until she meets Ray that, in my opinion, she finds some peace of mind. It’s not perfect, and it’s not like being with Claire, but it’s something that makes life worth living for a while, just like Demeter in the hymn.

So, Demeter starts taking care of Demophon, the queen’s son, and puts him in fire because, apparently, that’s how you become immortal. The queen sees her doing that and stops her which revives Demeter’s anger. She shows her true self to the queen, her godly self, and goes back to crying Kore. Allison does something similar when she takes part in the sit-in at the dinner. At first, it is a failure, but she decides to use her power, show what she can really do to the world, but mostly to Ray, someone who trusted her. He calls her out, just like the queen did, and rightfully so. After that, she is ready to say goodbye to him and go back to her own timeline, the one where she can be with Claire. Just like Demeter in the hymn goes back to her grieving now more angered than ever, Allison, not able to reunite with Claire as they get back to 2019, gives in to her pain and anger.

Demeter, still mad will then go on to cause a famine. Humans won’t be able to eat, but mostly, won’t be able to sacrifice to the gods. Zeus, seeing he won’t get any sacrifices, sends Hermes to get Kore back. Since she did eat some pomegranate, she will be forced to spend one-third of the year with Hades. The two goddesses reunite, the famine ends and Demeter tells her secrets to a few selected people. The same pattern can be seen with Allison. Back in 2019 but without Claire, suffering from PTSD, she becomes more and more angry. She starts misusing her power, hurting, torturing the Sparrows and betraying her own family. Since Reginald is the only person that can get her what she wants, she follows him blindly. Ultimately, she will, just like Demeter, get to reunite with Claire (or maybe not, I guess we’ll have to wait and see…)

The ape and the human were forced to commit to each other. Not that they were really forced, since after their first physical encounter, both were in agreement that their lives were dedicated to each other.

Noa's father was the one who opposed it the most. It wasn't normal to see a formal wedding between an ape and a human, but the political pressure around him, along with his own son's, had been enough to convince him.

For Mae, her life was starting to sound different. No interested boy came near her again. In fact, no boy at all. Noa had promised his father that he wouldn't touch her until they were married, and Mae didn't agree with that at all.

Santa, you’re about to make my day!

1 — So, with Nessian, I do not necessarily think that they are the best couple in the ACOTAR series, but the most realistic/relatable. I will always be biased and say that Elucien is the best couple in this series, but that is off topic. Nessian fell flat a few times in ACOSF, but the trust in one another, the commitment to one another, the fights and the makeups, etc., that all together showed the reader that they are willing to see it work, love each other, and are building a strong foundation. They both would die for one another, and have nearly sacrificed themselves for each other more than once.

2 — Towards each other, or in general? There are many quotes that I love both individually and in reference to them as a couple. For Cassian, my absolute favorite quote towards Nesta—aside from his iconic speech in ACOWAR—is in ACOSF when Nesta tells him her plan to have the priestesses join training. He looks at her and says, “I like it a lot, Nes,” and I just know that meant the world to her. For Nesta, it’s not a quote, but from a scene. During the Blood Rite when she draws the line in the pass. “Ataraxia, she had named the magic sword. Inner Peace.” The delivery of that line never fails to make me emotional.

3 — ‘War of Hearts’ by Ruelle. I actually listened to this song on repeat while I was reading ACOSF for the first time and everytime I hear it, I think of them. That, and ‘Black Friday,’ by Tom Odell.

4 — The most badass woman in my life was actually my high school AP Statistics teacher. I will not go into extreme detail as to why because it is deeply personal, but she changed my life and I am forever grateful for her. I still email her regularly, even though I graduated six years ago.

5 — I actually don’t like chocolate! I had COVID when it first hit and it did something to my taste buds and now chocolate tastes awful to me. I never really liked sweet things anyways—I’m super sensitive to sugar.

-while I am not against dnis (helps me prepare for the blog ahead) I think we should all acknowledge that they need more elaboration, because putting a discourse stance next to "dni racists" can come off as saying they're on the same level esp if you're just saying dni because it makes you uncomfortable (I know they aren't but do you?) which is why I have a stances instead of dni.

-don't know what pro recovery or anti recovery means but I do believe when it comes to someone elses mental health issues all we can do is take their words for it especially online when you don't know them that well, and I do believe you can find joy in your mental health issues. It's at the end of the day up the to the person suffering from it and their therapist to decide how it's handled end of story. If you don't want to "encourage a delusion" than just block them. They know how it affects them best, you are a stranger on the internet.

-Pro Endo and not willing to engage in syscourse (on this blog at least) because it's just petty at this point. If I want to talk about the syspunk tag or whatever we're arguing over now I'll bring it up first. (We're ok with anti endos interacting but if you start shit you'll get blocked, end of story)

-I believe that everyone is allowed to make jokes about their mental health (if the joke isn't going to make it worse) shit like "adhd moment" and "haha autism" isn't going to hurt anyone but people who are not adhd or autistic making fun of adhd and autism is. Joking about it can help ease the pain of it all and clapping back with "just wait till you've suffered like I have" isn't helping? Yes they are suffering that's why they're making these jokes. To cope with their suffering.

-I don't believe the media you consume defines you just how you consume it.

Week 12 of missing Cipher Academy

Ah, there’s the breakup I was expecting in Girl Meets Rock. I’m also liking this Kabru-esque co-worker of Chihiro’s (in looks, not personality), perhaps even as a love interest for her…though she has enough going on right now as it is. And then the further sprinkling in of queer overtones was nice.

Undead Unluck is so good…I like that Nico has managed to retain some of his cheeky cheerfulness in combination with the agedness he’s suddenly gained with all those memories. And I’m starting to see the NicoIchico vision, that “confession” was so cute. But most of all, I love that him regaining his memories has managed to develop 100’s Nico’s character arc…he finally gets to properly grow and repay Fuuko for everything…

Took a break from Manga Sunday to try out another TV show, The Big Flower Fight. It’s honestly hilarious how much they aped the Great British Bake Off’s formula, down to the tent and hosts and judges and the sketches that show what the contestants are going for, etc. It’s a bit awkward at times but fun enough to have on in the background, with some fun contestants to root for, and there were a few pieces that I enjoyed like the moth from episode 1 or the turtle from episode 7. I think the right people won in the end, too, so it was a perfectly fine show. I’ll give it a 4/10, which may seem harsh, but it’s basically just six hours of pleasantly British white noise so it’s not going to have a particularly lasting impact on me.

Oshi no Ko cheesy as hell…the sun coming through as Ruby makes her “dazzling declaration”…okay… The fake out with the stairs… Let’s see what Hikaru does next I guess…

One Piece extremely good. I love seeing some familiar faces, and with the mention of Robin’s past again, this really feels like the culmination of something that’s been in the works for a long time. And we actually get Vegapunk’s message!! I’m not well-versed in One Piece lore enough anymore to make any theories, but I’m excited to see what other details we can glean before the Five Elders inevitably cut the message short.

SpyFam also extremely good this week. I love that we’re getting a whole miniarc focused on Henry and Martha…I hope they actually get together, but with Endo’s glacial track record I’m not really holding my breath. Their backstory so far is really cute, tinged with an air of bittersweet regret in their old age and the ever-looming presence of war.

I’m going to be honest, I’ve been sucked into a massive Rune Factory 4 Special hole for the past few days and it’s still going strong…all I do is wake up and play RF4S while watching YouTube videos… I’ll talk about RF4S in length when I ‘finish’ it, so these next few days will be pretty barren.

DunMesh Thursday! Today’s meal is stir fried tofu with preserved duck egg and rice, which maybe would’ve fit in better with the Asian dishes last week, but oh well. Today’s episode was really fun, the shapeshifter chapter is a fan favourite for a reason and I don’t think the adaptation disappoints. I love the use of the crappy digital zoom again, as well as the anti-climax of Marcille silently exploding the beast – the comedy beats were really solid all throughout. And now I can’t wait to see Izutsumi’s introduction in proper next week…

Caught up with Akuheki finally and it’s…okay… I felt like their reconciliation was a little too quick and easy, and then the manga brushes that aside entirely to focus on recontextualizing Youhei’s trauma in a way I kind of really don’t like… Absolving the woodsman of all guilt and making him out to be a martyr feels like they’re trying to uncomplicate or un-taboo Youhei’s relationship to him… Granted, the woodsman being his father doesn’t make his trauma any more manageable, but the way that everything was presented and the number of “serious moments being undercut by a comedic beat” scenes in this stretch of chapters (and the fact that this is the last volume) doesn’t give me a lot of confidence that the manga is planning on further exploring how this changes Youhei’s psychology…feels more like a bandaid that they’re putting on his trauma to make him more willing to be in a relationship with Daimon… I hate to say it, but I think Akuheki is fumbling the ending for me. If the ending was good then I would’ve wanted to buy it physically, but not so much now.

Also read the latest chapter of Takatora-kun, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the story is moving beyond the realm of high school. With the socio-political talk that’s gone on in this manga so far, I’m really excited to see how these guys fare in actual society.
